Team MacOS X (1971) is a team of friendly, supportive computer users who are running Stanford University's Folding@Home distributed computing software. While most of us are Mac enthusiasts, many of us use Linux and Windows as well, so we welcome and support users of all computing platforms. The Folding@Home project studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. Folding@Home uses novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved.

The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. It is known that when proteins do not fold correctly, there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (CJD), ALS, Parkinson's disease and various types of cancer. By running the Folding@Home client on your computer, your spare processing cycles can help find a cure for these diseases!

As a group, the scores we generate count towards a team total and add a Mac voice to the Folding community.
