FAHClient 7.4.4 Released

Postby jackrabbit » Sun Mar 23, 2014 10:09 am

A couple of days ago, Stanford released version 7.4.4 of the folding software. Release notes since the previous release version (7.3.6) can be found at the official forum. That is also the main channel for posting bug reports. Of course, you can also ask such questions right here.

FYI, I have installed the new version on both an OSX and a Linux machine. The WU that was being processed at the time was continued without problems by the new version.

Happy folding!

FAHClient 7.4.4 Released

Hello, jackrabbit!
Release notes since the previous release version (7.3.6) can be found at the official forum.

When I click on the link you provide for the official forum, and then the link "Pictorial Installation Guide (Linux) -> A detailed pictorial guide of the V7 installation.", I get to a page that refers to v 7.3.6.

Scrolling down to the instructions for Manual Installation, again, the Terminal commands (which are incomplete) refer to v 7.3.6

I can always adapt them for v 7.4.4 (I assume, and unless advised otherwise) as in :

FAHClient:
wget --no-check-certificate https<colon>//fah.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/release/fahclient/debian-testing-64bit/v7.4/fahclient_7.4.4_amd64.deb

FAHControl:
wget --no-check-certificate https<colon>//fah.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/release/fahcontrol/debian-testing-64bit/v7.4/fahcontrol_7.4.4-1_all.deb

FAHViewer:
wget --no-check-certificate https<colon>//fah.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/release/fahviewer/debian-testing-64bit/v7.4/fahviewer_7.4.4_amd64.deb

This is for my Ubuntu 12.04.4 machine.

I'm mystified as to how folk manage to get to the v 7.4.4 stuff while I seem to get sidetracked into the old v 7.3.6.

Indeed, it looks like the guides have not been updated yet.

This is how I got to the download:
• Go to the project home page
• Click on "Start Folding"
• Click on "Download" (or "See all downloads" in case that's what you want to do).

Yes, I saw that link, thanks.

I'm going to go the Terminal route though. It's a trick I learned, as a complete noob, when I started folding on my Ubuntu machine in June 2012, and I'll do it that way for old times sake.

I see that 41 petaflops are quoted for F@H's 'supercomputer' output. A mighty beast!
