Windows folding service installer, The easiest yet!

fahsvc2.exe doesn't seem to launch folding at all.  I tried it twice but I get no FAH in my services list after going through the install.

Windows folding service installer, The easiest yet!

Hmm, odd... Anything more you can tell me?  It would help a lot...  I know that it worked for insalling on my test machines.  But you know how it is in the lab, everything works fine there.  ;)

Did you already have folding installed as a service?  If so, was it from my previous installer?  Anything you can tell me will help...

I deleted the link with the post because it appears that it was a dud version...

Windows folding service installer, The easiest yet!

Postby Rower_CPU » Fri Apr 02, 2004 6:16 am

Sure, here's the scenario:

Windows XP box, had the previous service running which was un-installed via FAHSVC.exe.  fahsvc2.exe seems to go through the install process just fine - it finds FAH4Console and proceeds through the install.

I click "yes" on the second to the last dialog to start the service and complete the installation.  I check my processes and nothing's running.  The one thing I didn't check was to restart the machine - I'll try that tomorrow.

If I go back to FAHSVC.exe it un-installs the service and allows me to re-install it and it runs fine.  I've gone back and forth several times and the first one always starts FAH afterwards and the new beta doesn't.

Hope that helps...

Small update:

Rebooting the machine or attempting the "net start F@H" command didn't have any effect either.

On a positive note, it seems to un-install just fine. :;):

All good news.  Did you try to install 2 folding clients or just one?  Sounds like one only...

Just one, since it's a single processor machine.

You all need to try our One-clik Windows FAH service install.  Download, click, tha's it.

OCForums one-clik

or our ultimate FAH install guide here:

:hi: EDIT  BTW  When you download the one-clik, you need to manually change the config file with your name and Team, BEFORE you click the OC-FAH exe.  If you don't you'll be folding for Team 32 and wedo.  At 1am, when I posted this, I forgot to tell you this.  Though it is in the thread itself .

Thanks for dropping by Papsomax.
I read the thread briefly. It appears that One-clik "might" cause all production to show up in your team stats rather than ours - at least in the hands of an inexperienced user. My concern relates to the client.cfg file. Perhaps the current version does not require manual modification of these settings per your forum thread.

I would ask our TEAM members with PCs to wait until this installer is tested by us.

Yes by all means, test it.  You do have to manually change the config file to your name and your team number before you run the exe.  We have to do that too, otherwise wedo gets all credit.  Same for the Overclockix iso for a linux box.  Nothing is reallly easy.  Just wanted to help our MAC brethern so we can borg and take down OCAH and the horde!

Fold on.
