New Details on the Apple Tablet, (You gotta love these rumors!)

Well, the rumors continue to fly regarding details on Apple's upcoming tablet device...  Who knows if or when such a device will ever see the light of day?

Over at www.iLounge.com, they have created a list of their top ten details -- "from their reliable source"...

Here are additional rumors from Appleinsider.com...

Supposedly, Apple has contacted several print media companies (e.g., magazines, newspapers, books) and is trying to convince them to sell their material via iTunes for use on.... "a new piece of hardware"...

Hmmm....  I wonder what THAT could be...

Well, it could be an e-reader like the Amazon Kindle.  Why they'd go that direction is unclear to me, since you can already get e-books for the iPhone.

Hmm, there's hardly enough screen on the iPhone to read anything - so maybe the "new hardware" is a tablet after all.

We have an Eee PC.  It's dreadfully slow during boot, and it's tiny, meaning that it works better for reading stuff  and web-surfing than it does for typing anything including email.  Personally I'd rather use an ordinary laptop, even if it weighs more -- but there seems to be a market for tablets out there.  I'd like to see what extra features Apple would add to differentiate their tablet from the others.  They don't do "me too" products so it would have to be something unique.

I loved my eeePC[in-the-beginning] but the novelty wore off after a while.     The portability can't be beat, and I especially liked the stocky, durable construction of the display hinges; battery life remained pretty decent, even after a year and a half.

But, I sold it.       I  now have have a Macbook...

..life is good.

The iLounge article in the OP listed "features" of the rumored Apple tablet - but entirely neglected what will be "under the hood". Will it have Intel Inside?  AMD Black (Edition) magic?  Or something else?

Here's an article at bms on ARM chips - a bit slow-starting I admit - which segues into intriguing speculation on hardware for the "iPad".  Bonus: numerous links below the article to their past coverage of ARM's products in the iPhone and other hand-held devices.

Rumors, rumors, rumors...   Here's another one:

Foxconn is supposedly the designated manufacturer of the 10.7" Apple Tablet...  Expected to hit the streets in 1Q 2010...  I suspect they mean calendar 1Q 2010 -- 'cuz Apple's fiscal 1Q 2010 runs from 01 Oct 2009 thru 31 Dec 2009...  Personally, I doubt we'll see anything before January -- although it would make a really nice Christmas gift...  PM me if you want to get me one...
